the 0:20 main highlights so number one employees 0:22 were freaking out because Elon didn't 0:24 send an email to everyone like no 0:27 personal intro or high message second 0:29 Tesla Engineers were brought in to look 0:31 at code which freaked out even more 0:33 employees and then some people are asked 0:36 to print out code and be ready to show 0:38 it to Elon but later we're told to shred 0:40 the printed code an employee with quota 0:43 is saying that he's scared because Elon 0:45 is quote unquote so unpredictable then 0:47 people at Twitter offices in London New 0:50 York and San Francisco spent most of 0:52 their day on slack speculating about 0:55 layoffs and then Elon Musk brought in 0:57 his team set up shop in an unused floor 0:59 or at Twitter headquarters Elon took on 1:02 product and Engineering issues and his 1:04 personal lawyer Alex Spiro took on legal 1:07 and content moderation issues they got 1:09 their own food taken care of so they 1:11 didn't have to go to the main cafeteria 1:13 and you guessed it this probably freaked 1:15 out even more people in summary people 1:17 are scared and confused at Twitter it's 1:20 chaos chaos chaos Does Elon even know 1:22 what he's doing this is what the media 1:25 Outlets are reporting and if you believe 1:27 them then we've got some problems see 1:29 the media has been reporting this kind 1:31 of slant against Elon Tesla and SpaceX 1:34 for years I can't even count how many 1:36 articles have criticized Elon for firing 1:39 people at Tesla sure I can imagine not 1:41 all the firings went well but the point 1:43 is that's part of elon's approach he 1:45 gives people big goals and expects them 1:48 to get things done if they work their 1:50 butt off and are willing to learn from 1:52 their mistakes then it's fine but if a 1:54 leader isn't solving problems or is 1:55 giving too many excuses then he or she 1:58 is out and with that culture are coming 2:00 from the top it sets up an 2:02 accountability throughout the company 2:03 get things done or get out it reminds me 2:06 in June of 2018 Elon Musk flew up to 2:09 Seattle to his starlink offices up there 2:12 it was fairly early on in development 2:14 but the team wasn't performing well and 2:17 according to reports within hours of 2:19 Landing Elon fired at least seven people 2:21 on the program senior management team 2:24 ruthless right maybe but it saved 2:27 starlink and the new team pushed hard 2:29 and it's the reason why starlink is 2:31 doing so well right now so yesterday 2:33 when Elon took over Twitter headquarters 2:35 he's not trying to be a CEO that's 2:37 popular or he's not trying to please 2:39 people either he has one goal and that's 2:42 to radically improve Twitter writing an 2:44 email to everyone in the company to 2:46 reassure them of their fears isn't going 2:48 to radically improve Twitter so it's not 2:50 that important to him rather I can 2:52 imagine Elon calling in the key 2:55 engineering and product teams at Twitter 2:56 and Grilling them and then pushing them 2:59 for results he wants to see problems 3:01 solved fast and he wants to see Twitter 3:03 move in the right direction quickly most 3:06 CEOs would probably come in talk about 3:07 the long-term vision of the company make 3:10 sure everyone feels good and is on board 3:12 but for Elon he doesn't have time for 3:14 pleasantries he's already leading Tesla 3:16 and SpaceX so he's only got maybe one 3:19 day a week to work on Twitter so each 3:21 minute is crucial you want to piss off 3:24 Elon as a Twitter employee just try 3:26 wasting five minutes of his time talking 3:28 about some nonsense that doesn't mean 3:30 anything that's for sure gonna do it so 3:33 Elon is laser focused on the most 3:35 important problems at Twitter he's 3:36 finding Solutions and he's trying to 3:38 make Twitter an amazing experience and 3:40 his first day at Twitter was exactly 3:42 that media might report it as chaos and 3:45 incompetence but they've done that kind 3:47 of reporting so often it doesn't 3:49 surprise me you've got one of the best 3:51 engineers and executors of engineering 3:53 ever he comes in and is doing what he 3:55 does Best But most people misunderstand 3:58 what he's doing they say he he's 4:00 unorganized unpredictable he's mean he's 4:02 quote unquote bad wow and all the while 4:05 they miss what's going on in the bigger 4:07 picture Elon sure has got his work cut 4:10 off for him but if he can revive Twitter 4:12 and 10x or even 100x the value that 4:15 Twitter provides then it'll go down as 4:18 one of the greatest company turnaround 4:19 stories of Our Generation and it's going 4:21 to have a huge impact on social 4:23 discourse politics and many other facets 4:26 of humanity
